Who We Are

Tampa Bay Mensa is a local chapter of American Mensa, which in turn is a national group of Mensa International. Membership in Mensa is open to anyone who scores in the top two percent of any number of standardized intelligence-related tests.

Through the Mensa Education Research Foundation (MERF), Mensa promotes the study of intelligence and education in general.

Raising a gifted child can often be a challenge. Membership in Mensa allows parents of gifted youth to connect and share ideas.

In addition to our blowout annual Regional Gathering and quarterly socials/picnics, our monthly Calendar of Events is packed with fun events.

Yes, friends and family are encouraged and welcome to participate in events along with members.

Membership dues for American Mensa are $79/single year, $215/three-year membership, and $350/five-year membership. Life Memberships are also available, based on your age at the time acceptable proof is received at the American Mensa National Office.

Yes, Mensa Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are organized around particular topics or interests and Mensans’ interests are as diverse as Mensans themselves; joining SIGs is a great way to meet members. Our first two SIGs were founded on Sept. 13, 1965, the Gifted Children Study Group and the Mensa Investment club, and hundreds of others have been founded since (from Generational SIGs to Pirates to Beer and all things in between). If you’re interested in it, there’s a SIG for it!
